There wasn't much for me to do after school except the drama club, so when I kind of started doing drama club, it seemed to be something I could do. - Julianne Moore

Our Mission

FACE A Place for All Faces!

The Valor FACE program exists to provide culturally-aware, high-quality fine arts, enrichment, and elective programs that empower our diverse community to live inspired, purposeful, creatively-rich lives.

History of FACE

Valor’s Fine Arts, Clubs, and Enrichment, aka FACE, started off as an idea to provide scholars with additional after school enrichment opportunities. In the beginning, FACE was known as Expeditions and was primarily run by teachers. Expeditions was a huge hit with our student population and it quickly became more than something a few teachers could manage.

In 2018, Expeditions evolved into ACE: Arts, Clubs, and Enrichment and we had a one person staff to oversee club management.

New programs were added, parent volunteers shared their content expertise, and Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee joined us to provide additional after school care.

By 2019, ACE was continuing to grow and parents truly wanted to see broader and more immersive afterschool programming which led to the hiring of our ACE Director in mid-2020.

Within one year, under the guidance of the director, ACE evolved again into FACE. From 2020 to early 2022, FACE navigated the tricky realm of the pandemic to emerge as a thriving collection of rich after school programming covering everything from robotics and choir to financial education and coding.
But FACE is more than just after school programming.

The Director also manages in-school Fine Arts and Enrichment and so once again, FACE needed to grow and so we hired our After School Program Manager to be our champion of all things FACE. Over the last 3 years, FACE has anchored itself as an essential component of the Valor Compass model. We created a logo, a branding statement, and now this website. And we will continue to grow as we support our fine arts and enrichment teachers with high quality professional development opportunities, work to continually refine our art and theatre curricula, and passionately pursue high quality afterschool programs.
